Mrs. Missouri America 2009
We invite you to
join us as a contestant, sponsor or volunteer as we work
to achieve our goal to "Make a difference" in Missouri.
I
first became involved with the Mrs. Missouri America Pageant
in 2000 when I became a contestant. As a dance instructor,
I had helped students prepare themselves for pageants and
competitions and when I found out about the Mrs. Missouri
Pageant I decided to give it a try. After competing in the
pageant for three years I finally captured the title of Mrs.
Missouri 2002! I had the the time of my life representing
Missouri in Honolulu, Hawaii at the Mrs. America Pageant.
During
my reign as Mrs. Missouri, I chose to speak out on youth
mentoring programs and encourage adults to get involved in
the lives of children and make a positive difference in
their lives. As a teacher and a mother of three children, I
believe that the future lies in the hands of our youth and
that we must do all we can to empower them, help them set
and reach goals for themselves as they develop a strong
sense of who they are and what their special purpose is in
their life.
After
a rewarding year of public appearances and enriching
opportunities I passed on the title of Mrs. Missouri to
Heidi Dinan who went on to become Missouri's first Mrs.
America!
When
the directorship became available in 2003, I saw an amazing
opportunity to continue making a difference in the lives of
others, but this time with women and as well as youth.
The
Mrs. Missouri Pageant is a wonderful experience for married
women to set personal goals for themselves and also discover
ways that they can make a difference in the lives of those
around them. It is an empowering experience! I believe
that when we empower women, we can change the world around
us! As our view of our self changes, the way we view the
world also changes and we start to catch a glimpse of our
limitless capabilities.
As a
contestant I made some lifelong friends, discovered new
things about myself and of course, had a lot of fun! My
experiences have strengthened me in many areas of my life
and have helped me to fulfill many goals. As the director, I
feel fortunate to continue on this incredible journey as I
meet some of the most dedicated, motivated and inspirational
women across the state who are beautiful both inside and
out. I am passionate about sharing this opportunity with
the many women who are seeking to enhance their life and
reach their potential. You have my personal invitation to
