Where Did You Study Dentistry?

Here are the highlights of Dr. Bridenstine’s educational journey:

• 1983: Brigham Young University – Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology
• 1987: University of Iowa College of Dentistry – Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS)
• 1988: Long Beach Veterans Administration Medical Center – Post-Doctorate One-Year Residency Program
• 2009: University of Southern California College of Dentistry – Post-Doctorate Sedation Program (IV Sedation Training)
• 2009: Level II Anesthesia Permit, approved by the Kansas Dental Board to administer intravenous and oral conscious sedation medication to patients.
• 2009: Scottsdale Center For Dentistry – Completion of the Dr. Gordon Christensen Two-Year Mentorship. Disciplines covered include oral surgery, periodontal surgery, dental implantology, cosmetic and esthetic dentistry, pharmacology, dental materials and technology, full-mouth rehabilitation techniques, occlusion, TMJ treatment, oral pathology, myofacial pain control, and new technology/techniques in restorative and cosmetic bonding.

Do You Do Any Community Work?

Dr. Bridenstine and his staff (along with some local dental specialists) have provided “Dentistry From the Heart” days to the residents in the community one day per year. Residents have FREE dental services at Perfect Smiles Dental Care during this day! Some other highlights of his Dr. Bridenstine’s giving nature include:

• Services are regularly donated through Give Back a Smile and other service organizations in need.
• Perfect Smiles Dental Care is a Giving Partner with Buy1Give1 (B1G1). What does this mean? When patients receive a dental checkup and cleaning, they automatically give seven days of access to lifesaving water to underserved populations and will also be providing access to dental hygiene for a child in need!
• Bridenstine has worked with the cruise line Holland America to provide gratis dental services in their dental clips to Filipino/Indonesian crew members and staff who would never otherwise receive proper, basic dentistry, donating his own time and money.
• Bridenstine is the CEO of AFFDENT® Dental Plans. AFFDENT® stands for Affordable Dental Plans. It is an in-house private dental plan specifically designed for patients who have no dental benefits and who are on a limited budget. Instead of delaying dental treatment because of limited finances, patients can now receive basic dental services at a discounted rate.
• Since 2004, our office has been chosen as the official cosmetic dental practice for the Mrs. Kansas, Mrs. Missouri, and Mrs. Nebraska Beauty Pageants, with Dr. Bridenstine as one of Kansas City’s Extreme Makeover Cosmetic Dentists. He’s even served as a pageant judge as well for all of these events, along with the Miss Kansas Teen Pageant! The winners/runners-up receive complimentary in-house teeth whitening, and the winners receive one full year of gratis general dentistry and a generous courtesy discount for any cosmetic smile makeover.

Outside of the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?

Dr. Bridenstine spent his childhood in Las Vegas, his family moving to Concord, CA in the San Francisco Bay area when he was just 10 years old. After graduating from Clayton Valley High School, he attended Diablo Valley College in Pleasant Hill and then served a two-year humanitarian mission for his church in Hong Kong. In fact, he returned home speaking fluent Cantonese! After studying at Brigham Young University, pursuing his dental degree at the University of Iowa College of Dentistry (he nearly didn’t make it through the winters), and completing a one-year GPR in California, he finally made it to Kansas.

Dr. Bridenstine and his wife Sherrie have been married for well over 25 years and reside right here in Lenexa. They are the proud parents of three beautiful daughters named Ariel, Claire, and Hannah. Sherrie’s also a HUGE animal fan, as Dr. Bridenstine found out when they got married, and they owned a gorgeous Silver Shaded Persian named Sultan for almost two decades whom they loved dearly. Today, their home has two newer cats named Tommy and Dober, as well an adorable Pembroke Corgi named Lily.

More than anything, Dr. Bridenstine loves being a devoted dad and husband who spends tons of free time with his family. His biggest hobbies include traveling, watching college and professional football, scuba diving, practicing photography, serving his community, and regularly attending church. He’s extremely passionate about baseball above all else and is a die-hard Kansas City Royals fan. Go Royals!
